The BulJer Junction, -Waekwatc, an.J Aldinga are stranded. Tho approaches totho Blackball bridge arc washed away. There was no damage to shippers, and operations have been resumed. - *
GREYMOUTH, June 26. News of the damage caused by the flood still continues to conve to - hand. The lines to Otira, Rceftow and Hokitika arc being repaired. - The damage is confined to wash-outs. Nearly all the settlers of the Grey Valley have suffered loss of clock. The approach' to the Blackball Bridge— at which 25 men were working ' for the pasf.nine. months — was swept away. A gang of men were on the streets to-day clearing away the gravel and debris. The -report, that two -men were drowned in the Fern Flat, dredge has been confirmed. Troubles are saul never to come singly. Tllis_was true in the case of Mr Merrett, a settler of Coal Crock Flat. Big fires were, lighted in the house- and bedding and clotli.es were -put to- dry. The man in charge left to attend to some cattle in the yard, and when returning lie noticed that the house was on fire. All efforts to extinguish tho fire were unavailing, and the nhifi-roomcd house, witlrits contents, were destroyed. There was no insurance on the contents, and £200 on the house. ilr Merrett is a heavy Joser.
