ELECTION PETITION UPHELD.

WANGANUI, March 20. In the Magistrate's Court this morning Mr Stanford, S.M., delivered judgment in the election petition lodged against the return of Alex. Higgie, as representative for Wangauiii Comity on the Harbor Board, upholding -the potition. The allegations of the petitioners were (1) Ihat the roll was so irregularly compiled as mt to be a real roll; (2) That an insufficient number of voting, papers wA» supplied to each booth ; and (3) that for want of voting papers many electors were unable- to vote. The Magistrate pointed out that tho Counties Act had not been complied with in respect to public notice bejng given that the roll was open for inspection, and other matters provided for in sections 59 and 77 had not been complied with. The returning officer and his deputy were ordered to pay tho costs.
