MELBOURNE, September 28. Mr Watson considers that Australia should now take some steps to indicate to tho Motherland what preference to trade she is prepared to grant. The President of the local Freetrade Association has cabled Sir H. GampbellBannerman that the message of the Chamber of Manufactures to Mr Chamberlain is representative of the self-interest of manufacturers, but not of the Australian people.
