PORT ARTHUR.
A DESPERATE AND PROLONGED ASSAULT. [PKIBB ASSOCIATION.] (Received September 26, 11.3 p.m.) LONDON, September 26. The Japanese made a desperate assault on Port Arthur lasting iifty hours. The positions captured seriously menace the Russian tenure of the big forts on the north, north-east, and north-west. Chinese reports state that the Japanese lost 3000 men, while the Russians claim that the Japanese losses were 9000.
