THE AMERICAN THEATRESCOPE
At the Opera House on Wednesday next the public of Hawera will be afforded the opportunity of witnessing the first performance of the American Theatrescope. Speaking of the show, the Wanganui Herald soys :—" Without any preamble we can right here say that this is thfi finest entertainment of 'its kind that has ever been submitted to a ciitical Wangamu audience, and we have the utmost confidence in recommending it as a first-class show to all theatre-goers. The pictures were thrown on the screen with a vividness that is quite unusual, no time being wasted in focussing. Skatinsj in Canada was a charming scene, and one could almost imagine hearing the hilarious laughter of those taking part in this exciting pastime. The trick donkey caused sr.reams of laughter by his antics. The Mexican bull fight was a thrilling exhibition, and truly depicted all the cruelties that are attached to this brutal sport of the Mexicans. The Mont Pelee eruption awed the audience by its vividness. The concluding item, the Drury Lane pantomime, was shown with all the perfection that first-class acting and scenery could attain, and an excellent conclusion to an exceedingly brilliant entertainment.' The company are reported to have had most successful seasons at the Pr'nress Theatre. Dunedin; Theatre "Royal. Christchurch, and lh« Opcja House, Wellington. Theatregoers should not miss the opportunity of visiting the Opera House on Wednesday evening next.
