PORT ARTHUR.
LIFE WITHIN THE FORTRESS.
(Received September 22, 9.51 p.m.) | LUJNDOW, September '£&. An English woman, the wifo of M. KraytcheiiKO, a Kussian officer, accompanied Prince Radziwill and others to Ohefoo with despatches. She declared that there are oO nurses per 1000 men m the tortress. Ladies make the soldiers' clothes, and soldiers' wives and pour women atlund to the laundry work. There are no contagious diseases prevalent, but a large red headed tly is teeding on the torpsea, and its bite is causing many deaths. A doctor who was bitten had his thumb amputated, and then his arm, but the poison reached his heart. The garrison is in buoyant spirits, and the lady says that no braver or finer bet of meu could be found auywhere. All have unlimited confidence in the possibility of holding Port Arthur.
