DAMAGE TO ROADS.
The Hawera County^Council recently communicated wi b the rf presontatives of tbe district wirh a viow to obtaining Government assistance, on account cf the extraordinary damage dp,n,o to. roads by the recent st&rma, ' As ? ome of the roads affeoted are jn the Patea electorate, Mr Walter Sym.es was requested to move in tbe matter so far as his district was concorned. He has brought the business under tho notice of the Premier, who, in a loiter to Mr Symos, replies: "The matter bus befn brought before the Cabinet", and instructions have baen given to tbe Commiesioner of. Crown Land,* for the dissi \st to obttaia a report' and give details of cases where it is necessary to repair damage caused by floods. On receipt of this report the Government will deal with *he matter, and as the question is ovie of unprecedented .diea&.'or porno relief will probably be afforded." .
