A meeting of the club was held at Bashford's Hotel on Wednesday night, Mr S. B. Corrigan (president) in .the chair. There, was a Jull attendance. Messrs McGregor and Nicholas made a claim for first stakes in the. Hurdle Race, on the grounds that S. . Morrow's Horse Capture was oit the forfeit list on the , day of the races. Resolved, That owners of the placed horses be notified that the club will meet on the 22nd inst. to hear evidence on the subject. , Resolved, That the Brass Band's account for £7 108 for playing pn the course on race day be passed for payment, but that the club do not consider that the Band kept faith in so far that they did not provide the promised number of players ' on the day of the races. . ( Resolved, That accounts .as. submitted by the secretary, also stahes, be passed for payment. Tho secretary nut in a statement showing that, with moneys yet to come in (i.e., entries, etc. l, 1 the /club I would have a credit balance of £JB6.

Resolved,^ That the 'secretary's fee" be fixed at £10 per annum, and a further grant , of £5 be made him ' for . extra preliminary work done. Resolved, That au executive committee be set up to go into the matter of remuneration to Captain Mitchell for his trouble in connection with the races.

Captain Mitchell said he would accept no remuneration ; but it . was thought by the club that some sort of a* trophy should be presented the Gaptain. , „ Resolved, That Messrs D. J. Hughes, J. D. Mitchell, and W. Slattery be appointed a deputation to interview the Colonial Secretary re a totalisator permit being granted to the club. The matter of the date of the annual fixture was brought up* and 3rd June (Prince of Wales' Birthday) was generally advocated, but it was pointed -^out that if the club held the races;' say} a fortnight after the Otaki meeting, good fields would be . assured.

Mr G. Cooper gave notice that, he will move at the next meeting of the olub, to bo held on the' 22nd inst., that 3rd June be fixed on as the date for the annual meeting:.
