Hawera and Manaia Clubs each sent rinks to Stratford on Easter Monday, aud play resulted as follows :— HAWERA v. STRATFORD. Gray, Strack, J. Syme, G. Syme (skip), 18 ; Betts, King, Foster, Simpson iskip), 81 Canning, Keen, Haughey, Nicholas, 28 ; Balfe, Morris, Black, G. Smart, 17. Ogilvie, W; Dingle, Parkinson, Par. rington, 24; Priestly, Sole, Stohr, A. Smart, 26. Total: Hawera, 70; Stratford, 67, the home team thus winning by 3 points.
MANAIA V. STRATFORD. Hunger, Hair, Connell, Jury, 34 ; C. Perm, T. H. Perm, G. Perm, F. Brown, 20.
Hodgson, Stewart, Peacock, Hill, 22 ; G-. Curtis, Brooking, Webb, R. Dingle, 23.
N. McCarthy, Donald, Corrigan, Armitage, 24 ; Morrison, R. Morrison, J. Long, Woodhead, 27. Totals: Manaia, 80; Stratford, 70. Manaia thus winning by a substantial margin. It was a very good performance for Stratford to take on two clubs at once, and score so well ; and the hospitality of the home team was so hearty and pleasjant as to quite uphold bowlers' reputation In that respect. Play was some* what interfered with by rain, but, on the whole, the visitors had a most enjoyable outing. The presidents of the respective clubs, Corrigan (Manaia), Parkinson (Hawera), and Woodhead (Stratford) exchanged the usual compliments, and it was practically arranged that Stratford will play off the conqueror with Hawera next Thursday week, and then go on to Manaia tot play on Friday.
