KAPONGA.

KAPONGA SPOBTS.

(from oub own correspondent.)

The above sports took place to-day (Easter Monday), and were favoured with fine weather, the public attending in force. The takings at the gate realised L 36 14s. Mr and Mrs McGuire were present, and Constable Simpson represented the police force. The Eaponga Brass Band at intervals enlivened proceedings and attracted a good deal of attention. The games (Mr C. Martin) were well patronised, and Mr F. W. Oliver did a thriving trade with the refreshment booth, fruit stall, and cordials. The officers, of which there appeared to be few in number, worked well to get the events off to time, though the handicapping on the ground took up a good bit of tune, 'especially as in most of the handicap events large entries were the order.
