At Hawera Green on Saturday, in a match for the Davidson feathers, Sutton and J. Hicks (challengers) were' defeated by Ogilvie and R. Hicks (holders), 25 to 15.
In the champion tourney, J. Syme beat R. Hicks.
The most interesting figures in the gazetted trade returns for the last quarter of 1901 are those which indicate the effect of the Federal tariff upon the exports of this colony to New South Wales. In the last quarter of 1900,' the exports to New South Wales amounted to L 265 068, while last quarter they were valued at only £140,409. The exports to Victoria (formerly a protectionist colony) amounted to $188,273, an increase of £67,665 on the figures for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
