"SPECIAL ORDER" for Kaising a Loan of £2000 for tbe purposes of Drainage Connections within the Borough of Hawera under " The ! Hawera Borough Drainage Empowering Act, 1900." WHEREAS at a Speoial Meeting of the Council held on Friday, the 17fch day of January, 1902, a resolution to the following effect was adopted : — That the " Hawera \ Borough Council," in pursuance of the powers vested in them under 11 The Hawera Borough Drainage Empowering Act., 1900," do borrow the sum of Two Thousand Pounds (£2000) sterling by way of a " Special ! Loan " (to ba hereafter known as " The Hawera Borough Drainage Connections Special Loan ") for the purpose of providing for the oarrying out of drainage works within the Borough under the ,power 3in that behalf vested in the Council by the said Act. THAT such Speoial Loan shall b raised by the sale by tender of 20 debentures for £ICO each, repayable in ten years at the Bank of New Zealand, Hawera, and bearing interest in the meantime at the rate of 5 per cent per annum, payable yearly at the Bank of New Zealand, Hawera, and that chs debentures be effeoted by advertisement for tender on the 25th day of January, 1902. No tender under £100 per £100 debenture can be lawfully accepted. The object of tbe Company is to ' purchase the Bacon Faotory and business carried on by Mr Alfred Drake, at Fitzroy, and to oarry on r and extend the same. An agreement has been signed between Mr Drake end Mr F. J. Morris a3 trustee for the Company, fixing the purchase money at £4,250, of which the vendor is willing, at the option of the Company to take £600 in fully paid up shares. A statement of the trading aocount of tbe faotory for the period from 4th January to 11th December, 1900, shows that, with a total of 8479 pigs dealt with, a gross profit of £2184 0s 6d, and a net profit of £915 17s 6d resulted, being equal to 36 per cent, grosp, and 15$ pur cent. net. This statement is certified to by Mr T. O. Kelsey, FJS.ZA.A. Mr Thomas Runciman, of Eltham, has, on behalf of the Provisional Directors, inspected and valued tbe factory and plant, and his valuation, without including value of the land • or goodwill of the business, is £4242 7s. The Company will establish stations at Warea, Opunake, Kaponga, and Eltham within six months . after receiving a sufficient guarantee that 1500 pigs will be supplied for one year at each of those places. No amount has been paid or is , intended to be paid by the Company to any promoter.
