CRICKET.

THE THIRD TEST MATCH.

DUST STORM INTERFERES WITH PLAY.

Received January 21, 7.34 p.m.

Adelaide, January 21.

The cricket match was continued in sultry and threatening weather. One end of the wicket was still perfect, but at the other an extensive oblong patch worked through, rather short of a good length. The attendance was five thousand.

Hayward and Tyldesley faced Trumble and Howell, and the former beat Hayward with a beautiful ball. Hayward was batting for an hour and fifty-four minutes — a faultless innings except for a difficult chance at stumping late last night. Two wickets for 113.

Tyldesley and Quaife added 13 slowly, and then the former was run out through over eagerness. He ran hard for a cut which Trumper returned smartly.

Jessop was in eighteen minutes, and knocked up 16, including two 4's and one 5, before he was clean bowled by Trumble. The fourth wicket fell for 144.

Braund played a lively innings for 17. At 165 he! was bowled by Howell, who had relieved Noble.

Quaife and Lilley stayed till luncheon, when the total was 167. Quaife was batting sixty-five minutes for 10.

When play was continued, the wind was blowing a gale, with the air full of dust. Howell and Trumble bowled, but the former was not troubling the batsmen, and at 194 McLeod relieved him. In his second over, he just failed to reach a low return from Lilley, who had made 21.

At 3 o'clock, a tremendous gust of wind snapped the main flagpole on the members' reserve, and the upper half in falling narrowly missed striking several people. The dust was so thick that the scoring board was unreadable, and play had to be suspended. Received January 21, 8.15 p.m. Adelaide, January 21. The dust never ceased, and at 5.20 p.m. the umpires, after going out to see what the weather was like, drew stumps. The experience was absolutely unique in cricket.
