BOWLING.

WANGANUI V. HAWERA.

The Wanganui bowlers arrived by Tuesday morning's train irom Wanganui, and were met by representatives of the local club, and entertained at lunch at the Commercial Hotel. At 2 o'clock the game was started. The visitors brought only two rinks, and play resulted as follows : —

1 Hawera therefore won by a substantial balance. Afternoon tea was served during the progress of the game, and Mr James Davidson, president, welcomed the visitors before the game, and subsequently added a few words of appreciation of the honor done Hawera Club by the visit. Mr Bennie responded on behalf of the visitors, and said they were delighted with the treatment accorded them and the excellence of the green. Though they would have liked to win, they very heartily congratulated Hawera Club on tbeir victory. Cheers were than exchanged. The visitors left the same evening, by express, for New Plymouth. At New Plymouth, Bennies rink was beaten by Gray's by 89 to 13, and Moults beat Paul's by 22 to 20.
