In relation to the Blatch oase. a letter from the Chief of Police states that a number of Taooma oitizena have identified the photograph as being that of Lilly white, wEdin they, knew well as a painter and decorator, is enclosed from F. C. Clarke, the Chief of Police warrants to beva reputable citizen, and who says Liiiy^ white was never beyond his reach from 1889 to July 1894, when he saw him oil by the Bteamer to New Zealand-- (the murder occurred in December, 18»8). ! The chief states it would be eaßy to get an affidavit of identification from a number of reputable ouizens. The portrait of Lilly white **•»£•■ Union group iB also cent. Mr SkerreU says it ba,s been conoeded that v tne doouments found in the accused man a possession were his property, he could not possibly be Blatch. This question he olaims 1b now set at rest by the correspondence. __________
