' ' The Patea Harbor Board have deoided to send their chairman and Mr Symes to Wellington as a deputation to urge upon the Government the necessity of appointing a butter grader at the Port sf Patea.
It was omitted from the report of the Catholic Social that the furniture was lent by Mr Arthur, and the thanks of the oommitte are tendered for his courtesy.
Mr Preece, of Mangatoki, has been asked to contest the vacancy for Mangatoki riding on the County Council, but has not yet made up his mind whether he will stand or not.
At Christohuroh, on Thursday evening, a conversazione was held in Christohuroh Art Gallery, and presentations were made to Mr Louisson, Mayor of Christohuroh, and his wife.
The Hunt Club meet at the corner of Glover and Normanby Roads on Friday, 28th inst.
Miss Kirk, of Wellington, delivers a prohibition address at Normanby this evening. Misß Kirk has a clear and interesting style of putting the position, and no doubt she will have a good audience to hear her views. She also speaks at Okaiawa tomorrow (Sunday) at 2 p.m., Matapu in the' evening at 7 p.m., and on Monday evening at Okaiawa.
The late Mr Walter Wilson was at one time a member of the Patea Harbor Board, and that body at its last meeting (on the motion of Mr Major, seconded to Mr Symes) resolved to tender to Mrs Wilson its condolenoes in her' late bereavement, and at the same time to place on record itß appreciation of her late husband's services daring the time he served as a member of the board, and also of the esteem he was held in by members for his unfailing oourteousness and general good qualities.
