At Manaia yesterday at the Prohibition Convention, as will be seen by our report the temperance party lesolved to withdraw from the position previously taken up, and to run no fcpeoial candidate. Later Mr D. L. Astbury announced that he had received a requisition from a number of leading settlers to stand for the Hewera electorate, and that be would probably acoede to the request. Considerable pressure, we hear, has been brought to bear on Mr James Boddie askicg him to become a candidate, 'but up to the present he has not made up his mind as to i whether he will or will not stand.
