Matapu Notes.

A meeting of the Matapu Public Hall ConimiM&e was held in the school on Friday, 26th instant. Present — Messrs G. Preece (chair), H. Sutherland, D. McCarten, S. R. Heslop, W. McL'dowie, P. ODea, S. Little, A. Innes (treasurer), C. P. Berridge (secretary.) The principal business was to make arrangements for the opening nijght— -Friday, 16th September. It wi is decided that the opening night take the form of a concert and dance, cLnarges to concert to be 2s and Is and tc> dance 3s, ladies free, and that the sj ime be advertised in the Star. The following sub-committee were appointed : — Concert : Messrs S. R. ULsslop and W. McL'dowie. The fact tha.t these gentlemen were the promoters of the last so successful concert, and that they intend to excel themselves this time ought to be a sufficient guarantee of the quality of the forfchco raing eentertain?n n? ent. Dancing Committee:ittee: Messrs C. P. Berridge and P. O'iDea. Music: Messrs D. McCarten, H. Sutherland and A. Innes. The lad ies of the district have kindly undertak en to do* th<* catering. Without bei) Dg optimistic, I venture to add that, giv< m a fine night, iho opeuing of the Ma kapu Hall, will be a red letter day in the history of the district.
