« (per press association.) LONDON*, December 14. The General Post Office is carrying out a series of experiments in transmission on electric wires. Messages have been transmitted and received without connecting wires. Wm. Henry Preece, engineer in chief of the engineering department of the telegraphs, considers that the system will be of considerable value as a means of communication between lighthouses and ships at sea.
