The Elections.
(per peess association.) NAPIER, November 2. Mr L. D. Fraser, native agent, is definitely announced to oppose Captain Russell.
The Premier did a " fly round " on Saturday, speaking at Hurleyville and Alton during the day, andatPateainthe evening addressed a large meeting. He met with an enthusiastic reception. On Sunday afternoon he came to Hawera and stayed the night, leaving for Wellington this morning by. the 7.20 train. We understand he will be in the district again about a fortnight hence, when he will speak at Eltham and Hawera, and probably at other places. We learn that Mr Sedlon when in Hawera yesterday, stated that the elections must take place before sth December. It is understood that in addition to Mr Smith of Hunterville and Mr R. A. Adams of Patea, the name of Mr Boddie of Mangamingi and Eltham has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Patea seat, but nothing has been settled as to who shall stand in the Government interest.
