EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd) REPORT.
At our monthly Okaiawa sale, which was hold on the 15th inst., there was rather more stock yarded tban was advertised. Cattle of all classes were in good demand, so that with two trifling exceptions every hoof was sold at the hammer or immediately after the sale. The few lineß of sheep entered did not reach the resesves placed upon them, so were passed in unsold. We quote— fat bullocks, £6 2s 6d ; 2 to 2£-year steers, M 0s 6dto £A 8s 6d; cows aud heifers, in calf, to M 16s ; springers, £5 15s to £9. We held our usual fortnightly sale at Manaia on Wednesday the 21st inst. The yards were moderately "well filled with cattle of first class quality, and there were also a few sheep. There was a large attendance, and brisk bidding for good steers and fat cattle, but cows and calves Trere rather dull of aale ; still we managed to clear tbe bulk of the stock entered, most business being done at the hammer. We quote — Forward steers, £4, 19s 6d to £5 7s ; 2 to 24-year steers, £3 16s 6d to £4, 10s ; fat cotts and heifers, £A Is to JBS 43 ; cows in calf, £3 10s to £o 10s ; woolly lambs, 7s. During the past week we have placed several large lines of stock privately.
