The Harper-Maude Bankruptcy (PER PEESS ASSOCIATION.)

CHRISTCHURCH, May 8. A further meeting of creditors in the eßtate of George apd Leonard Harper and } T. W. Maude was held to-day. At the . meeting in Maude's estate, Mr Wilding, solicitor for the official assignee, submitted ! a long report anent the result of the investigation which tbe official assignee had instructed him to make iuto the - circumstances attending the alteration of the articles of association of the Lyttleton Times Company, Limited, and into the dealings of the bankrupt ia oonneotion with Bbaresbeld by Harper and Co. and himself in that company, with regard to the mortgage by Mr Maude of his share to Mrs Maude's trustees, who had a claim on the estate for £1407 6a lOd. Mr Wilding reported that after a conference with the supervisors, aUhough donbt existed as to the validity of the mortgage as a whole, 1 upon various grounds it was resolved to b admit the claim of the trustees after a deducting the items whioh were considered s clearly in contravention of the bankruptcy j law, and for which no equivalent was received by tbe estate, and he was therefore authoiised to pay over to the trustees the fc sum of £840 15s Id, and in option olaimed 1 by Malet to purchase 100 of the shares i relinquished. The asset thus reoovered 3 amounted to £597. j A motion to allow "the bankrupt his furniture was not (seconded. Another to 1 defer the matter until the English creditors k- had been coinmnnioated with was with- : drawn. In the eßtate of George Harper t aod Leonard Harper no motion was proposed.
