Native Obstruction at Awanui.
?T r- ¥•? (PER ERESS ASSOCIATION.) . GISBOBNE, March 21. :■• rAt Awanui-, Mr Booth, R.M., has been engaged all day hearing the case against the natives charged with obstructing the surveyors. Sergeant- Major Moore prosecuted, and tbe accused were all convicted. Three maleß and two females were each fined 20s, * with costs i! 8. Koromeha Mopuka, for inciting to obstruct, was fined £2 and £1 4s 6d costs in each case. One month was allowed for payment, in default of which 30 days' imprisonment would be the penalty. Anaro Te Kaha, the obief of the party, for pulling down a trig station was fined £40 and £3 3s 6d costs, in default three months' bard labor in the Napier gaol.
GISBORNE, March 22. Further trouble has arisen at East Cape, the Datives having pulled down more trig stations. Sergt.. Major Moore, who was on bi6 way back to Gisborne, bas returned to Awanui, and 20 mounted cfbnstableß left Gisborne this morning for the scene of the trouble.
