(per press association.) WELLINGTON, September 13. At a meeting of members of the Wellington Fruit Growers' Association a resolution was passed regretting tbe opposition shown in Parliament to what members considered fair and equitable and in the interests of all shareholders. Tbe association has £500 in hand contributed for purposes of bushfelling, but decided to postpone tbe question of proceeding with tbe work.
Merrie England was sold to-day for 200 guineaß.
CHRISTCHURCH, September 13.
At the adjourned inquest on the body of the infant found in the Heatbcote river on September 4tb, the jury returned a verdict that there was no evidence as to the cause of death, and expressed tbe opinion that there was not conclusive evidence tbat the girl in custody was the mother of the child.
DUNEDIN, September 18.
Messrs. K6mpthorne, Prosser, and Co. announce an interim dividend of 7£ per oent. per annum.
