LLOYD v. CASEY.

VERDICT FOR PLAINTIFF FOR £250.

The case Lloyd v. Casey occupied the attention of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth the whole of Tuesday, when the taking of evidence was completed. This morning the addresses of counsel and tbe summing up of the judge were to follow.

The following telegram has been forwarded by the Press Association : — The case of slander, wherein Thos. Lloyd claimed damages from Cornelins Casey, the latter having stated plaintiff had burnt down his house, which was insured, was concluded this -morning, when the jury gave a verdict for plaintiff, damages £250. Mr. Samuel, who appeared for defendant, applied to the Court to stay proceedings, on account of excessive damages. The Judge agreed to hear an application to stay, (proceedings this afternoon.
