MR. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.

New Plymouth, May 19.

At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there were not so many cattle yarded as usual. Prices for calves and yearlings were about on a par with last sale ; big steers, a few of which were yarded, met with a poor market ; dairy cattle showed considerable improvement, and anything near calving sold well. Produce. — Butter newly packed, is firmer, and in good demand ; the price will, I think, remain about the same in Anstralia for some time; local rates will probably advance steadily. Potatoes are moving off, but stocks held are heavy.
