In connection with the Eev. Charles Spurgeon's recent charges of heresy in the Baptist church, a motion has been carried by the Baptist Union, to the effect that it is inexpedient to provide further theological tests for membership, inasmuch as tbe union already possess sufficient power to deal with non-Evangelical sentiment. The motion was seconded by the Key. J. A. Spurgeon, brother of tbe Eev. C. Spurgeon, and was carried by a large majority. It is thought that tbe carrying of the resolution will have the effect of allaying the quarrel in the churches.
