AUCKLAND, August 11. Mr. John Lundon addressed a meeting at Kawakawa last nijjbt, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. He favored Protection, village settlement scheme, and sapported the present Government. A deputation waited upon Mr. R. Wood, and asked him if he was willing to stand for "Waitemata. He expressed his willingness to contest that seat if a general desire was shown in that direction by the residents. WOODYLLLE^ Aurusc 11. Sir George Grey delivered an address in the Drill Shed last night. His speeph principally was on his scheme of settlemerit pf jthe land. He had an enthusiastic receptjioq, apil had the largest audience ever seen jtn Woodville. The mayor was in the chair. A hearty yote of thanks was accorded Sir George, who leaves for Wellington, via Palmerston, this afternoon. GREYMOUTH, August 11. The new electoral roll for Greymouib is completed. It contains the names of 2187 elector?, as against J§s7 Ust year. It is anticipated the supplementary roll will contaih between 500 and 600 names.
