LARGE FIRE.

(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) BLENHEIM, June 80, A most disastrous conflagration broke out in Blenheim shortly before 2 o'clock this morning. The fire was first discovered in apartments occupied by the family of Mr. Carter, landlord of the Criterion Hotel. It soon had a firm hold of the building, and quickly spread to the adjoining building, occupied by Augustus, barber. Running along Market-street, it consumed shops occupied by Falconer, cabinetmaker, Burns, saddler, Healey, boot shop, Galloway, draper, and Adams, butcher. The offices of A. J. Macallister, commission agent, were pulled down, and so stopped the progress of Hie fire in this direction. A light nor'-wester fanned the flames across the street, destroying the Colonial Bank, Jubilee Drapery Ware house, the shops of Williams, bootmaker, McKenzie, butcher, Tucker, stationer, Eldersham, confectioner, Elson, druggist (No. 1 shop), Ringstad, barber, Pyst, clothier, Mullen, draper, Elson, druggist (No. 2 shop), Griffiths, auctioneer, Mory, photographer, Mason, watchmaker, Scott, confectioner, gutted. In Alfred-street, Oddfellows' Hall and two cottages were consumed. It is thought the value ol property destroyed will amount to ±'50,000.
