"A SHILLING'S WORTH OF GROWL."
To tht Editor of the Star.
Sir,— On reaohing Stratford railway station, on Saturday, £ applied for % ticket to Hawera, but was told I was too late. The train waited fully five minutes after my arrival, but I was foroed to pay. my extra shilling. After knocking at the office window for some minutes I applied to the stationmaster personally tor a ticket, tally two minntes before the train started, but he replied that I was ten minntes too late and declined to issue one. When I reached Normanby I saw a passenger who was also late, apply to tbe stationmaster for a ticket at the very last minute, in fact just before tbe last bell rang and that clerk went back into his office and gave him one. I do not know whether the Stratford official was within tbe letter of the instructions or not ; but I fail to see why I should be done out of a bardearned shilling because a station master is tuo lazy to unlock bis office door and issue one.— l am, &c.
