Shaw, Saville, and Albion steamship Tainui, from New Zealand, arrived at Plymouth this morning, with her meat in good condition.
The first Australian parcel post has been dispatched, and was the occasion of some ceremony with the postal authorities.
At the request of the Boers, Germany will protect Eppingtonia.
The Tasmanian loan of one million, at four per cent., has been placed in the market. The minimum is fixed at 90, and tenders will be opened on the 12tli inst. A new coinage will be issued in commemoration of the Queen's Jubilee year. It is expected the Exhibition will bo prolonged until December. July 8. It is announced that tho British Government will abstain from isolated action regauling the notification by the Russian Government closing Batoum as a free port. BRUSSELS, July 8. A serious fire broke out to-day at the University of this city, resulting in the destruction of the greater portion of the building.
