AUSTRALIANS v. LORD SHEFFIELD'S ELEVEN.

LONDON, May 14.

The match, Australian Eleven v. Lord Sheffield's team, was continued at Sheffield Park to-day. The attendance was again very large, although the weather was showery during the day. The recent rains spoiled the wicket, and it was much cut up during the day's play. The Home team went in for their first innings, and succeeded in making seven more than their opponents, viz., 105, before all were disposed of. The Australian bowling in this innings was very good, Garrett taking four wickets for two runs, while Spofforlb took two wickets for five, and Palmer one wicket for three runs. The Australian team, who had scored 98 in their first innings, went in for their second innings, making 70 before being put out: Bounor makiug top score (23), during a splendid inniugs, in which he never gave a chance. Barnes and Ulyett were the most destructive bowlers on the English side, the former takiug seven wickets for three runs, while the latter took three wickets for two.

The English team then went to the wickets for the second time, aud, when the stumps were drawn, had placed 46 to their credit, for the loss of two wickets. The following are the scores (the names of the principal scorers only being given) :—

Jones, bowled ... ... ... ... 10 Bonnor, caught ... ... ... 23 Palmer, caught ... ... ... 17 Total for second innings: 70. The visitors' fielding was rather weak. May 15.

The English won the match with eight wickets to spare. The scores were as follows : — Australian Eleven : Ist innings, 98; second innings, 70; total, 168. Earl Sheffield's Team : Ist innings, 105 ; 2nd innings, 64; total, 169.
