In view of the constant talk about the imininence of a dissolution of the House of Representatives, it behoves every one who has the qualification to see that his name is on the electoral roll. The qualification is so wide that it practically includes every man of the age of 2t years old. It is set forth as follows in section 2 of the Act: — Every man of the age of twenty-one years or upwards baviug, of his own rigbt and not as a trustee, a freehold estate in possession situate within any electoral district of the value of twentyfive pounds, whether subject to incuinbrances or not, and of or to which he has been seized or entitled either at law or in equity for at least six calendar months before the registration of his vote, is entitled to be registered as an elector and to vote at an election of members for such district for the House of Representatives; or every man of the age uf twenty-one years or upwards who has resided in the colony for one year and in tbe electoral district for which be claims to vote during tbe six months immediately preceding the registration of bis vote, and is not 'i'egrißtercd in respect Of a freehold qualification under I this act for the Batne district, is entitled i to be registeied as an elector and to vote ! at tbe election of members for such < district for the House of Representatives. (Name.) (Address.) (Occupation.) Signed and declared by the^ claimant this day of] in the year 18 , T before me. J An Elector of the District jor Registration Officer or J.P.] There may be other persons who, though they may have been on the roll in other districts, are not upon the roll for the district in which they are at present residing, and it may be that they have not been resident in the latter district for the pa&t six months, but this need not prevent them qualifying within a very short time. All that they have to do, having been in the district one month, is to apply to the registrar for the district iv which they had been residing, ask for a transfer, obtain a certificate that they had been on the roil for another district, hand in the certificate to the registrar of the district for which they wish to qualify, and apply to be enrolled. The whole process is very simple, and the proportion of electors to population should be much larger than it is. We hope that all in this j district who possess the necessary qualification will take steps to secure enrolment. It is a duty which they owe to themselves and their country.
