Mr. Crocker's Lord of the Hills and Mr. Collins' St. Clair have been sent into training under Alex. Cameron, at Normanby. Cameron also has in charge a nice little filly, just broken in. •Mr. G.G. Stead-, the well-known Canterbury sportsman, has privately disposed of the whole of bis magnificent stud of brood mares, numbering twenty in all, to the Auckland Stud Company. With these additions and those about to arrive from America, the northern breeding company must have the largest and one of the most select breeding studs in the Southern Hemisphere. The Auckland Eacing Club, (says the Star) are about to have several important alterations and 'improvements effected in the Ellerslie course. A new grand stand is to be constructed,, equal to seating between 500 and 600 persons, while underneath will be a large luncheon-room, 20ft by 40ft, four booths 25ft by 24ft each, and a kitchen. Four 6tables are to be built on an extensive scale, and above these will be a jockey stand.
