The prompters of this Association wißh to bring before the public of Taranaki the great gains to be derived by establishing in their midst a Company, to be worked purely on Co-opera-tive principles, having for its object the furtherance of farming interests, and also offering a great financial saving to each individual member of the public who may becomo a shareholder. The promoters have great confidence in bringing this Association before the public, as similar co-operative institutions have been most successful in all parts of the world. Amongst the important objects of the Association are the following :-— To procure for its members greater facilities than at present exist for the shipping of their produce, live stock, and carcases to tho consuming markets of the world. This the Association will do, by exporting the produce for its shareholders at the lowest rates in chartered ships, by allowing shareholders advances at low rates on the produce so shipped, and on produce deposited with the Company for shipment or sale. The promoters think this will be of the greatest advantage, as the rates usually charged in Taranaki are excessively high. The export of carcases and dairy produce by the refrigerating process wtll be one of the objects of the Association, Great benefit also will be found in that tho Association will procure Cornsacks, Woolpacks, Agricultural Implements, Secdß, and aU articles, of consumption that may be in demand by its shareholders, at the lowest rates. By these means a gvea,t saving will be effected, as the prices in Now Zealand of all articles of husbandry and of general consumption ;*vo far- in excess ox the prices at the place of manufacture. The Association will undertake any business and* make all arrangements that may be necessary with other firms fcr the furtherance and better carrying out oi its objects. The Directors are empowered by the Articles of Association to make advances to ita shareholders on landed property and other securities. The benefits derivable from the Association will be Btrictly confined to its shareholders. The profits of the Association, after paying interest at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum on paid-up capital, will be divided amongst all the shareholders pro rata, according to the amount of business done with the Association by each shareholder. , A Meeting of the Provisional Directors will be held at the Criterion Hotel, New Plymouth, on Saturday, the 9th September, when the Shares then applied for will be allotted, and the date fixed for the General Meeting of Shareholders, to appoint Directors, and to settle the Articles of Association. Forms of Application for Shares and information may be bad at tbo Offices of the National Bank, New Plymouth, or from any of tho Directors.
