NGAIRE.

(from our own correspondent.) The final meeting of the Ngairo Road Board was held on Monday. It was resolved to contribute £5 towards the cost of the Stratford Bridge. Mr. O'Donovan tondered 15s. to Messrs. Cowen and Taylor for their attendance at Hawera. Those gentlemen protested, as they had been obliged to attend three times at Hawera. The Board granted Mossrs. Cowen and Taylor the balance of their expenses. It was agreed tha l the working expenses of the Board bediv.Mod pro rata among the different blocks. Attur arranging for submitting the accounts of the year's transactions to the auditors, the Board adjourned. Our new school will probably be finished this week. It is worthy of our thriving district, and will, I trust, soon be supplemented by a suitable teacher's residence. The committee are in communication with the Education Board about a master j and there is talk of some jollification to celebrate the completion of the school. There waa a largo attendance of ratepayers at the Road Board nomination today, and things pnssed off very pleasantly. Mr. Godkin was voted to the chair, and called upon Mr. Marchant to read a statement of tho affairs of the board from its commencement up to date. That having beon done, some questions were asked by Mr. Thompson as to the expenditure on Cardiff road, which were answered satisfactorily. Mr. W. Taylor enquired as to the authority by which deferred payment funds had been used for working expenses and for deviation purposes. Mr. Kent also put some I questions on the same subject. It was explained to tho meeting that the Board found it impossible to carry out -works without deferred payment money were allowed to be used for those purposes, and tho Wasto Lands Board had allowed £150 for that object. Nominations for auditorship resulted in Messrs. Jackson and T. C. Taylor, last year's auditors, being declared duly elected. For the office of comiuissiouer there were 13 nominations. The po 1 ' lakes place on Thursday, 15th inst. A vote of thinks to the chairman, to tho out-going Bdard, and to tho returning officer, closed the meeting. June 8. '
