A NATIVE CANARD.
(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 5. 1 A correspondent writing to the Herald says : — I havo heard on good authority (native) that tho Government sent an agent to Parihaka, and offered to return a number of guns that were taken when Te Whiti was arrested. The natives declinod tho oiler, saying the Governor took them and he must keep them. The agent then said, the Governor wishes the natives to come to Christchurch for the purpose of hearing what he had to say to Te Whiti. This was also refused, whon the agent placed his hand on the arm of the spokesman and eaitl, " You must come." Tbo nativo, who is snid to be of a turbulent disposition, immediately rose up, gathered his blankets around him, and followod the agent in a moa docile inannor. My informant tells mo he saw this man and two others In town waiting for tho steamer to tftko thorn south. This has been confirmed by another '• oye-witnoss," as ho terms himself.
