THE AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN.
LONDON, June 1. The Australians commenced their sixth' match to-day at Manchester, against eleven of the county -of Lancashire. The visitors went first to the wickets, and were disposed of all for 259 runs. Murdock batted splendidly' and never gave a chance nntil he was caught for 68 ; Massie was bowled for 47; Bannerman, 1.b.w., 39; and Blackham, bowled for 82. The home team then went in for their firsfc innings, and at the conclusion of the day's play had lost two wickets lor 54 runs. Tho weather during tho day was fine, and tho attendance at the match enormous. June 3. The cricket match waß resumed at Manchester to-day. There was a very large attendance. The weather was showery, and the wicket waß consequently not 60 lively as yestorday. Lancashire men resumed their second innings with 7 wickets down for 213 runs. The remainder fell for 56, making a total of 269, and leaving the Australians 120 runs to get. These they obtained for the loss of 6 wickets; thus scoring a victory by 4 wickete. The bown'ng of the Englishmen was dead on the wicket, and their fielding was excellent. In their second innings Barlow was top scorer with 67.
