(per united press association.) WELLINGTON, Ths Day. It is understood that Hiroki, lying under sentence of death for the murder of McLean, has confessed his guilt. HOKITIKA, This Day. The population at Woodstock contimies steadily to increase, and claims with payable prospects are now being opened daily. There are considerably over a thousand miners on the field. Water is expected to be brought into the field in the course of four weeks. Two sawmills are now actively employed. Three new publicans' licenses have been granted, and the number of stores is increasing. INVERCARGILL, This Day. It is nnderstood that a railway employee in the locomotive department intends to commence an action .against the Government for overtime alleged to have been promised by one of the Ministers, but which has never been paid. He has kept an accurate record of his time|for several years, and it is understood that his claim will amount to a tidy sum. Should he succeed there ore a number of others prepared to follow suit.
