LONDON, May 27.
A youth named Albert Young, aged 17 years, formerly employed as clerk in the Bailway Telegraph Office, at Doncaster, who was arrested last month on the charge of sending a threatening letter to the Queen with the object of extorting money from Her Majesty, has been fonud guilty and sentenced to ten years' imprisonment.
May 29. A letter appears in this morning's issue of the Times, reiterating, with circumstantial details, the allegations against certain meinbors of the English eleven which recently visited Australia, with regard to their conduct in connection with the last Australia*} match.
CONSTANTINOPLE, May 29.
It has transpired that Lovcl Dufferin and the Marquis Do Noailles, the English and French Ambassadors, have addressed a joint note to the Porte requesting that Arabi Pasha, the leader of the Nationalist Party in Egypt, and his chief associates in the agitation, should forthwith be summoned by the Sultan to Constantinople.
Turkish ironclads, stationed iv the Bosphorus are now engaged in coaling. It is believed it is the intention of the Porte to dispatch them at once to Alexandra.
CAIRO, May 24.
The gravity oi the political situation continues to increase, and great alarm prevails on account of the state of anarchy which now exists. The Khedive, yielding to the prayers of the Notables aud threats of the military, has now consented to the reinstatement of Arabi Pasha as Minister of War.
May 28.
Preparations are being made for de : spatching an Imperial Commission to Egypt, with tho viow of effecting a settlement at the present crisis. I£ is believed that the object of the Porto in intervening is to secretly support the military party in Egypt, as against the Khedive.
MELBOURNE, May 29.
Edwards has been awarded £4000 and Gauuson £2500 for injuries sustained at the Jolimont railway accident last year.

The Treasurer's Budget Statement was introduced in the Assembly last night, and showed that the revenue for the past financial year was £5,754,000, being £316,000 over the estimate made in September. Last year's expenditure amounted to £5,374.000, exclusive of £305,000 paid for redemption of Treasury bonds. The revenue for the present year is estimated at £5,010,000, including balance at 81st March last. The expenditure is estimated at £5,574,000, leaving a surplus of £36,000 at the end of 1882-83. The Treasurer proposed to reduce excise on beer by one penny, and inland postage to one penny, also to abolish tea duty. The total remission of duties will amount to £200,000. He further proposed to vote £12,000 for defence purposes, and £100,000 for immigration. The railways, ho showed, are returning four per cont. on capital of £18,000,000 employed. He concluded by announcing thut the loan of four millions will be placed on tho London market in January. Au address to the Irish people, and signed by Messrs. Longmore, Duffy, Brophy, O'Callaghan and Toohy, members of the Victorian Assembly has been published here. It represents Ireland as under the hoof of Foreign despotism, and urges that the country should receive complete freedom. Mr. Patterson has given notice of motion in the Assembly, calling attention to the treasonable and seditious language employed by some of its members in the address.

The Krug Champagne Sculling Trophy, which was rowed for on the Parramatta river on Saturday, was won by Fittes, the Victorian amateur sculler.

Mr. Parnell has avowed a compact which it was alleged he entered into with the British Government prior to' his release from Kilmainham gaol. Mr. Gladstone was severely questioned on the subject in the House of Commons, but his reply was of a very equivocal description, and it is evident he desires to avoid disclosing the precise terms of the agreement arrived at.

Several more persons have been tried at Vienna for having, by their carelessness, contributed to the terrible catastrophe at the Ring Theatre, which was destroyed by fire in December last. Herr Janer, the manager of the theatre, and Herr Landslioner, the chief inspector of police, who was on duty at the theatre on the night of the fire, were found guilty, and sentenced to four months' imprisonment. A workman received a sentence of eight months. Owing to the meetings of Land Leaguers being prohibited in Ireland, a number of them have decided to hold a general conference in Pans. The American land leaguers are very much embitterod against Mr. Parnell for what they consider to bo his abandonment of the policy of the league, and they call upon him to publish a statement of the money received by him on behalf of the loague, and account for its disposal. A serious explosion has occurred in a powder magazine at Copenhagen, and six lives were lost.

Mr. Trevelyau, tho new Chief Secretary for Ireland, is now in London. In order to guard against any murderous attacks being made on him by the Irish, Mr. Trcvelyan is constantly attended by a strong escort of police. The United States Government have received intelligence that loads thorn to believe th >t the assassins of Lord Cavendish aud Mr. Burke are on board one of tho steamers of the Cunard Line, bound for New York. They have accordingly dispatched a cutter from N«w York to intercept and board tho vessel before she reaches harbor.
The magnificent pier at Qneenstown, Ireland, has been the scene of a tremendous conflagration. Beforo the flames could be got under the pier was thoroughly gutted, aud damage done to tho extent of 450,000.
