NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOR BOARD.

At the Board meeting on Friday a report by the Besident Engineer was read — Breakwater: A length of 18 feet has been added to breakwater, containing 448 cubic yards of concrete. Blocks : 25 blocks, containing 316 cubic yards of concrete have been made. Sea-wall : 30 cubic yards of rubble and concrete have been built on sea-wall. Sand : The sand along line from Barrett Eoad to works is being removed, and the work of erecting barricades (of casks) against sand encroachment is progressing. The s.s. Westport discharged 1,594 casks of cement on 13th. and 14th. instants. The cargo was landed in bad order ; 67 casks were very much damaged, and fully onequarter of each cask's contents lost, making, say, the contents of 17 casks short landed. On account of the large quantity of cement expected to arrive here shortly, I beg to ask the Board's authority to erect a store capable of holding 4000 casks of cement, as per accompanying plan ; the cost of such store would be about iJISO.

INCREASE OF WAGES.

Captain Davidson moved, " That the foreman of the quarry (Fitzhern) receive an increase of salary to .£3 10s. per week so long as he is foreman of the quarry." Carried. The Chairman drew attention to names on the pay-sheet there having an increase of wages without the consent of the Board. — Mr. Ehind stated that he had increased the wages of several men who had been promoted to more responsible positions. He was not aware that he had first to ask the sanction of the Board. — It was decided that the pay-sheet should pass, but that in future Mr. Bhind was to obtain the sanction of the Board.

CEMENT STORE.

It was resolved that the cement shed, as recommended by Mr. Bland, be erected. — Mr. Dingle moved, " That the engineer be requested to call for tenders for the erection of the store." — Seconded by Mr. Carnngton, and earned.

CONTRACT.

Mr. Bayly asked when the plans would be ready for letting the work by contract? — Mr. Bhind said that the survey had been commenced, but it would probably take two months before it could be completed. — Abridged from Herald.
