MANAIA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The committee met on Thursday evening. Present — Messrs. Dingle, Hughes, O'Brien, and Yorke (chairman.) Correspondence was read from the Education Department stating that the Board took all initiatory steps in the appointment of teacher, but tbat the committee's approval was always asked before appointing.

The building measures 30ft. by 16ft.. The chairman explained that lie had the contract signed for the school build- •' ing, Mr. Symes 1 (of Hawera) tender at ;£720 having been accepted. It was resolved that a bee should be called for clearing and levelling tbe school* sections on Tuesday next, 20th, at 8 a.m., volunteers invited. " . .'.
