PATEA.

(from our own correspondent.) A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a cavalry corps to supplement the present infantry will be held on "Wednesday evening at the barracks. This is a move in the right direction, and provided an energetic and painstaking leader is found, will no doubt prove useful in case of emergency. I hear that Mr. J. Shield of Whenuakuta is mentioned as the likely captain, should he consent to Btaud. Tae officers of the infantry have kindly allowed their names to appear in the notice convening the meeting. A lot of people from here intend going to Parihaka on Saturday to see the movements and entry of Mr. Bryce. We are anxiously awaiting result. Nov. 1.
