PATEA.
(from our own correspondent.) Patea, October 20. The Patea people were very much pleased on Tuesday at receiving advice from Major Atkiuson that that the Coast route was to be taken for the railway. This decision will no doubt push Patea ahead still faster, besides being the means of materially improving the river by reclaiming the flats below the wharves which are at present preventing the ready flow of the water. Petitions are already flying round the town, asking candidates to come forward for town councillors, amongst, whom are Messrs. J. Milroy, Dixon, A. Black, and C. F. Barker. The goods shed is fast being erected. Mr. C. Bull, superinteding the work.J j
