MELBOURNE, Yesterday.
The trial of Henderson, Wright, and Wallace, of the steamship Ferret, has been concluded. The jury returned a verdict of guilty of conspiracy to defraud the Customs and intending purchasers; and guilty, with extenuating circumstances, on the other counts of the indictment. There was a want of evidence regarding the owners of the vessel. Sentence was deferred.
ADELAIDE, Yesterday.
The Local International Exhibition was opened ou Thursday by his Excellency the Governor, in the presence of an assembly of several thousand persons, including the members of the Ministry, the Chief Justice, Mayor of Adelaide, and members of both Houses of Parliament. The opening ceremony passed off most successfully.
SYDNEY, Yesterday.
The Commercial Banking Company at Sydney have declared a dividend for the past half-year at the rate of 25 per cent, per annum. Ten thousand pounds is added to the reserve fund, and ifilO,Bß7 is carried to next account.
BRISBANE. Yesterday.
Three children living in South Brisbane were examined by doctors yesterday, with the object of ascertaing whether they are suffering from small-pox. The doctors think they are attacked with that disease, but are unable as yet to decide definitely.
