SHOOTING.
THE CARBINE MATCH.
The carbine match between eight of the Taranaki Cavalry, and an equal number of the Hawera Light Horse, took place on Thursday mornfhg, each party firing at their own butts. The Taranaki squtid won by 21 points. The weather was very unfavorable for shooting in Hawera, the wind being quite puffy, and blowing at times in strong gusts across the range. Troopers Flint and Douglas, who were the highest scorers on both sifles, made the same totals— 4B. Mr. J. Cunningham acted as scrutineer for the Taranaki Cavalry, and Mr. J. C. Adams for the Hawera Light Horse. The following are the scores : —
