CARLYLE.

(from our own correspondent.)

Carlyle, Last night.

The following, are the scores made by the Patea rifle team on Saturday last, in a match against the Wellington Guards : —

Being an" average of 366 points per man. The Wellington scores are not yet to hand. A strong breeze across the range was much against scoring. At the ordinary monthly meeting of the Harbor Board, held here yesterday, the application of Messrs. Thomson, Fraser, and Tregear, for transfer of their interest in the lease of block 20, Patea, to Messrs. York and Cornfoot, of Wanganui, and their interest in block 16, Patea, to Mr. E. A. Adams, was agreed to. The board declined to take over Mr. Dickson, the contractor's crane, for J2OO. It was resolved that the new store at the wharf be placed between the cattle yard and. the north side, and 20 feet from the breastwork in the centre ; also that the cattle shipping yard and the breastwork be taken over so soon as the contractor repairs the gravel, according to specification. The chairman was empowered to pay the balance of contract price, and for any extra work authorised, on the engineer being satisfied of its proper completion. Tenders tor the erection of the new store will be invited, up to 18th instant, and Messrs Sherwood, Milroy, and Adams are appointed a committee to accept the same. Mr. James Lett has sold out his chaff and firewood factory.

The schooner Jane Anderson is now waiting for a deeper channel to proceed outwards to Dunedin.

The Telegraph is chartered by Mr. Langley, to take a cargo of pigs to Lyttelton. The supply was obtained from the Plains.
