SEASON, 1880. TO SERVE MARES IN THE HAWERA DISTRICT. The Pure-bred Clydesdale Entire SIR WILLIAM WALLACE. Dam — Mr. Charles Campbell's famous fov.oocl mare by Champion (imported.) Sire — Mr. Kettle's imported horse Sir William Wallace. Sib William Wallace is a beautiful dark bay with black points, and was foaled January 7th, 1872. J?or symmetry, strength, and action, he stands unrivalled. He'ißper£eeb\yquieb, docile, and tractable. No horse approaches him in quality and quantity of bone, muscle, and hair. He is a sure foal-getter, and bis stock are turning out first-class. He has taken the Champion Prtee in Wanganui two years in succession, viz., in 1878 and 1879. For pedigree and further particulars, see large cards* Fee — Single mares, at £4 105. ; reduction made for two or more mares. Groomage fee, 2s. 6d.,- to be paid when the mare is served. Fees payable on January Ist, 1881. Paddock for mares free for one month., after which a charge of Is. 6d. per week will be made. Every care taken, but no responsibility. Knockdon" is out of the celebrated^ 1 mare Princess. Princess hy Emperor, out of the celebrated mare Kate, imported by the late Mr. James Stracban. Princess took first prize in Timaru in 1874, against eleven brood mares. Emperor gained three first and three second prizes, being beaten only by his sire, Napoleon. KTnockdon/'s sire was bred by James N. Meming, Esq., oi T£noc)i<lon, oafc oi the renowned mare Rosie, by Prince Christian. Prince Christian was also bred by Mr. Fleming ; was by bis horse Prince Consort, out of his prize mare Nell. Rosie was also bred by Mr. Fleming; her sire was bred by Major Findlay, of Eastern Hill, out of a Highland and Agricultural Society's prize-winner. Her I dam, Old Eosie, gained fh-st prize as a three-year old at the Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Dumfries, and as a brood mare the following year at Kelso. Rosie gained many prizes in Scotland, amongst others, first, as a twoyear old at Ayr, 1867 ; first, as a threeyear old at Ayr, 1868 ; second, as a brood mare at Ayr and Maybole, 1869; and first as a brood mare at Ayr, in 1871 ; same day winning sweepstakes for best brood mare, open to Scotland. She was beaten at Ayr and Maybole, in 1869, by Mr. Fleming's mare Salt, but was placed before the same ma"re in 1871. As a brood mare, Rosie has not been surpassed. Her first foal, a filly, was four times first as a yearling, viz., at Ayr, Glasgow, Maybole, and Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Dumfries. In 1871, she was shown twelve times, and always gained the first place. These winnings included Glasgow, East Kilbride, and Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Perth. In 1872, she was again first at Ayr. Her second foal, also a filly, gained second prize at Ayr, and first at Glasgow, and Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Perth, as a yearling in 1871. In 1872, she was again first at Ayr and Glasgow. At present, she is considered the best of her age in Scotland. Her next foal wais Knockdon. He was foaled on the 26th May, 1871, and gained 6he first prize at Ayr, and secoifd at Glasgow, in 1872, and first at Timaru as a three-year-old in 1873, and first again in 1875, against all comers. KitoCKDON took first pritfe in Timaru as a yearling; first in' Wanganui as a two-year-old; first in Wanganui as a three-year-old. ; first in Waverley for all horses. Terms.— ;£ 4 10s. for single metres. A reduction for two or more. Groomage fee, ss. Paddocking free for four weeks; Every care taken, but no responsibility.
