LONDON MARKETS.
Mr. Freeman JR. Jackson's London agents (Messrs. Johnson and AUsup) report as ioUowj), under data London, 7th October: — Wool. —The third series of sales for this season closed on 25th September, without very much change in values subsequent to date 'of our last circular (th September). The last series is to commence on the 23rd November, and, as the stock to be offered then is oztty moderate, and <be general conditions of trade ate fairly good, we anticipate a continuation of present rates for remainder of this season. It is too early at present to forecast next year's prospects, but, as an increase of 100,000 bale? in the Australian produce seems to be anticipated, and as the diminution of English supply is said to have been overestimated, we recommend our colonial friends not to be too sanguine in their expectations. Tallow.—During 1 the past month some large parcels have been offered at the public sales, and nearly all have been cleared, though at a decline of about Is 6d per cwt. Loir qualities are, however, still well competed for, owing to the Continental demand. Present values extend to 35s 6d for best mutton, and 33s 6d for beef. The present stock of Australian is about 12,000 casks; large shipments are also advised to be afloat, and any rise vn valves hi the near future it therefore very problematical. Hides and Leather.—A large sale of hides it in projfress to-day, about 12,000 being catalogued, but we shall not know the result in time for this circular. At last sales there was an advance in values of about H per lb, all of good qnality, whether heavy or light, being cleared at s}d per lb, and some heavy ox from Adelaide at &ii per Yb. Leather has also advanced about W per lb, values ranging from 10Jtol2id; -while Basils have been sold at from 9M to 16Jd. Wheat is recovering from recent low values, and some imports from New Zealand of long-berried TaUtvera have been sold at rather high pricea. Present quotations (per 4961bs ex store) tor Australian are 49b to 50s; while New Zealand show iiie extreme range' of 3aa to 545, the qualities ot ea,ch mark showing very great variance. Flour has advanced from 33s to 85s for Australian per 2801bs. The weather has been extremely variable, and though we have had gome fine days, yet, on the whole, it has hardly been favorAble for threshing purposes.
