SHOOTING. OFFICERS ' CUP.
The third competition for the cup presented by the i officers of the Hawera Light Horse took place on Saturday. The weather was fine, but the wind blew across the gully, and consequently rendered the day rather unfavorable for shooting. This was, however, more the case, during the firing at the 800 yards range. In the morning the wind was not so strong. Sergeant G. Bayly, who was the highest scorer in the first competition, sustained his reputation on Saturday ; and Trooper Flint, who was the highest scorer in the second match, also shot well on Saturday at the two first Tanges. Trooper Mason distinguished himself, and is now pat down amongst the list of "probables." The following are the scores ; —
